Simone met The Honourable Bill Morneau, Minister of Finance, during today's announcement by the Canada Foundation for Innovation on the results of the latest round of John R. Evans Leaders Fund. The grant will establish our Laboratory for Ultrafast THERmo-magnetics (LUTHER), a facility to investigate heat transport and magnetization dynamics. LUTHER's capabilities will include magnetic fields above 2 Tesla with variable angle of incidence and 40 uJ laser source capable of variable pulse duration (300 fs to >10 ps) and repetition rates spanning from single-shot to 40 MHz.
